Mother’s Day weekend is a special occasion to celebrate and spend time with the family.
We’ve put together a plan for you to enjoy this weekend at Oropesa del Mar – Cabanes.
Here’s an itinerary to take you round the main tourist attractions in the area, stop for a bite to eat at one of the local restaurants, and also make sure you don’t miss the Mediterranean Epic Gran Fondo, which takes place this Saturday, 6 May 2023, from 6.30 am (although some activities for this event will already be taking place on Friday).

We’ll start our Saturday in Oropesa del Mar, a coastal town with numerous beaches and coves where you can enjoy the sun and the sea. What’s more, if you’re interested in buying a property in the area, there’s still time to take advantage of the range of apartments for sale in Castellón.
A tour of Oropesa del Mar
To start the day in a relaxed way, you can take a stroll along La Concha Beach, one of the most popular in the area.
If you’d prefer a quieter atmosphere, you could head to Morro de Gos Beach, situated to the north of the town.
At either of these, you can enjoy a sunny morning by the beach with your family.
Once you’ve enjoyed the sea, it’s time to explore the historic centre of Oropesa del Mar. Here you’ll find numerous tourist attractions, such as the Torre del Rey, the Church of the Virgen de la Paciencia and the Palace of the Count of Vall de Salent.
Eating out in Oropesa del Mar
After exploring the historic centre, it’s time to stop for lunch at one of the local restaurants. We recommend three of the best-rated restaurants in Oropesa del Mar: Le Vin Rouge, Maître Cavista; Lasarte Restaurant; and El Olivo, Tapas & Bar.
Cabanes: the best of both worlds
After lunch, it’s time to continue our journey to Cabanes, a small town situated next to Oropesa del Mar.
The town comprises an inland area and a coastal area (where our Ciudad Jardín apartments are located).

In the inland area, you can visit the Torre del Homenaje, a 15th-century fortification that has become one of the town’s landmarks.
We also recommend visiting the Parish Church of San Juan Bautista and the Cabanes Viewpoint, from where you can enjoy stunning views of the area.
You can also take part in the Mediterranean Epic Gran Fondo, taking place this Saturday, 6 May – a mountain bike race that takes in the area’s main attractions.
Sunday’s plan: Serra de Irta Natural Park
A spectacular plan for this Sunday is to visit the Serra de Irta Natural Park, a protected natural area with numerous hiking trails where you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Mediterranean.
Back to Oropesa del Mar
If you’re into culture and art, you can visit the fascinating Playing Card Museum, where you’ll learn about the history and evolution of playing cards over the centuries.
Spending Mother’s Day weekend in Oropesa del Mar - Cabanes could be a unique experience where you can enjoy the sun and the sea, discover places of historical interest and enjoy an unforgettable weekend with the family.
