Is it worth buying a flat in Marina d'Or? If you’re looking for a place where the year doesn’t end in September, the answer is yes. Here, you’re not just buying a few metres of seafront: you’re settling in Spain’s largest holiday resort, with beaches, leisure activities, amenities and good weather all year round. Before you decide, it’s worth finding out what you can get up to living here, what daily life is like and what you need to bear in mind. Let’s take it one step at a time.

Marina d'Or Today: the holiday resort reborn as ‘Magic World’

Marina d'Or It began as a resort designed entirely for holidays, in Oropesa del Mar and Cabanes (Castellón). Today it is enjoying a new lease of life: the group that bought it has transformed it into Magic World Resort, with a multi-million investment that is modernising the parks, hotels and services. For those who live here, this redevelopment means more leisure options right on the high street and an area that is increasing in value. We cover this in detail at Marina d'Or, now Magic World, and in the article on the acquisition by the Fuertes Group.

What you can do when living at Marina d'Or

This is what sets it apart from any other beach: here, leisure is right on your doorstep, not an hour’s drive away. Magic World brings together seven themed parks, surrounded by a seafront promenade, gardens and over a hundred shops and restaurants open for much of the year.

Beyond the parks, living here means having the seawater spa, the promenade and the shops right on your doorstep. If you’d like a complete list of things to do in the area, you’ll find it under ‘Things to do in Oropesa del Mar’ and in the details of Magic World’s theme parks.

Enjoying all twelve months: climate, beach and surroundings

The main reason why people stay: here, the year doesn’t end in summer. Costa de Azahar enjoys over 300 days of sunshine and an average temperature of around 19°, so autumn and winter are spent outdoors. And as we’re on the Levante coast, the sun rises over the sea: you can watch the sunrises from the terrace itself.

Oropesa boasts five Blue Flags across its beaches and marina, with wide sandy beaches and more secluded coves just a short distance away. To explore the area, take a look at Costa de Azahar and the nearby villages at Marina d'Or that are well worth a visit.

How to get there and get around

Getting here is easy, and that’s important if you’re planning to visit often. Castellón Airport is a 20-minute drive away and Valencia Airport is an hour’s drive, with a direct exit from the AP-7 just five minutes away. Oropesa railway station offers train connections to Madrid and Barcelona. You’ll find a comprehensive guide on how to get to Oropesa del Mar and all flight connections at Castellón Airport.

There are direct flights from the UK to Castellón Airport, with flights from London all year round and from Manchester in the summer. Our apartments are about a 20-minute drive from the terminal.

What about buying? Which flat to choose for living in Marina d'Or

Marina d'Or offers a wide range of flats of various types and ages. Whether you’re looking for a main residence or a second home, new-build properties make all the difference: better insulation, energy efficiency, guarantees and communal areas with a swimming pool and spa. And not all developers start from the same place: the advantage of buying from a developer who has been building here for over 40 years is that they know every street, every beach and every facility in the complex, because they built them.

Our new-build flats are right on the beachfront, with a choice of finishes or ready to move into. You can view them, along with floor plans, orientations and prices, on the developments page for Marina d'Or and Oropesa del Mar, and book a viewing. If you’d like a general overview of buying property on the coast first (taxes, orientation, budget), you’ll find it in the guide to buying a beachfront flat, and the reasons for investing in a seafront property in this analysis of investing in a beachfront flat.
