In Oropesa del Mar, the connection with the Mediterranean doesn’t end at the shore. At the marina, the Yacht Club keeps alive another way of enjoying the sea: setting out to sail and seeing the town from the water.

You don’t need a boat or any experience. The club is also a sailing school, a meeting place and one of those spots with a life of its own that you’re glad to have when summer draws to a close and the village returns to its usual rhythm.

A marina just a few minutes from home

The harbour at Oropesa del Mar lies amongst the town’s beaches, with moorings for pleasure craft and a calm stretch of water sheltered by the breakwaters. Strolling around the harbour at dusk, with the masts silhouetted against the sky, is an experience in itself.

There’s a lively atmosphere around the harbour all year round: terraces, people returning from sailing trips, and the laid-back buzz of a club that doesn’t close when August ends.

Learning to sail: school and activities

The club organises water sports activities and courses for beginners in sailing, a pastime that, thanks to the climate, can be enjoyed on this coast for almost twelve months of the year. For children, it’s a real treat: few things give them as much independence and instil such respect for the sea as learning to sail a boat.

If you’re after a different kind of activity, the harbour area is also a popular starting point for kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding – another way to explore the coves that you can’t see from the road.

The sea, from September to June

Anyone who has an apartment here knows that the best of the sea begins once the summer rush is over. The water remains warm well into autumn, the mornings are bright, and the harbour carries on with its daily routine of ships setting sail and returning.

Your home by the sea

Our new-build developments in Oropesa del Mar and Cabanes are just a few minutes’ walk from the marina, right on the beachfront. If you’re looking for a lifestyle where the sea is part of your daily routine, start by taking a look at the apartments available or Come and explore the area for yourself.

Sailing is one way to explore the town, though not the only one. All the other things to do in the area, from the castle to the coves, are listed in the guide to Things to do in Oropesa del Mar.
